A-102 Terrain, objects and movement analysis
LOS and communication

Line of sight LOS calculation online

For radio links, cameras, communication points and on-site route assessment: select two points, check the terrain profile, heights and Fresnel zone margin.

Line of sight Fresnel zone elevation profile Two points on the map
2 points for communication line
LOS visibility check
DEM 30 m / 250 m height sources

What does the calculation check?

  • Is there direct visibility between selected points, taking into account the terrain.
  • How the terrain changes along the route between objects.
  • Where the terrain profile may intersect the Fresnel line or zone.

How to use LOS

  • Open the LOS module and set point A and point B on the map.
  • Specify the heights of antennas or objects above the ground for each point.
  • Compare terrain profile, line of sight and Fresnel zone calculation.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is LOS?

LOS means line of sight, that is, direct visibility between two points. In A-102, the calculation shows the profile of the terrain and helps to understand whether there is an obstacle on the route.

Do I need an account for the interactive LOS module?

Yes. The public page describes the scenario and leads to calculations, and the interactive LOS module opens after logging into your account.

Is it possible to use the calculation as the final project of a radio link?

No. The calculation is suitable for preliminary assessment, but critical decisions need to be verified by measurements, current data on objects and profile design.
